Part 2: Describe a time when you interviewed a famous person

You should say:

  • Who the famous person was

  • When and where you interviewed this person

  • What you talked about during the interview

  • And explain how you feel about the experience

Part 3: Questions on Interviews

  1. What kinds of people are usually interviewed?

  2. Why do some people dislike being interviewed?

  3. Why do some people think interviews are a waste of time?

  4. What should people do to prepare for a job interview?

1. Giải chi tiết IELTS Speaking Part 2: Topic "Describe a time when you interviewed a famous person"

Dàn ý triển khai (5W1H & Storytelling):

  • Who the person was: Nguyễn Nhật Ánh (hoặc một tác giả, chuyên gia truyền thông, học giả nổi tiếng). Lựa chọn này giúp câu chuyện thực tế, mang tính học thuật và tự nhiên hơn việc tự nhận phỏng vấn ngôi sao Hollywood.

  • When and where: Cách đây khoảng một năm, nhân dịp ra mắt sách tại một triển lãm sách ở trung tâm thành phố, khi bạn còn là biên tập viên cho câu lạc bộ báo chí/truyền thông sinh viên.

  • What you talked about: Quá trình sáng tác, nguồn cảm hứng viết lách cho thế hệ trẻ và lời khuyên dành cho những bạn trẻ đang theo đuổi sự nghiệp viết lách/sáng tạo nội dung.

  • How you feel about the experience: Ban đầu vô cùng hồi hộp, sau đó ấn tượng sâu sắc bởi sự khiêm tốn, thông thái của tác giả; xem đây là bước ngoặt truyền cảm hứng mạnh mẽ cho bản thân.

Bài mẫu Band 7.5+ Part 2

Speaking of a memorable encounter, I would like to share the story of when I had the unique opportunity to interview a renowned Vietnamese author, Mr. Nguyen Nhat Anh, whose literary masterpieces have shaped the childhood of generations.

This extraordinary experience occurred about a year ago during an annual national book fair held in the heart of Hanoi. At that time, I was working as a student journalist for our university’s multimedia club, and our team was tasked with producing an exclusive feature video on prominent contemporary figures. Securing a brief sit-down interview with such a celebrated public icon was undoubtedly a daunting challenge, but fortunately, his publishing team granted us a fifteen-minute conversation right after his book signing session.

During our dialogue, the conversation revolved primarily around his creative process and his perspectives on modern reading culture. I took the initiative to ask him how he consistently manages to capture the innocent psychology of adolescent characters so vividly across decades. Furthermore, we touched upon practical advice for aspiring young writers and digital content creators who often struggle with creative burnout and self-doubt.

To be completely honest, prior to the interview, I was shivering with nervous anticipation because I had never conversed with someone of such immense stature before. However, the moment we exchanged greetings, all my anxiety dissipated. He greeted me with such warmth, genuine humility, and an approachable demeanor that the entire exchange felt more like an intimate chat with an old mentor rather than a formal interview. Looking back, that brief meeting not only boosted my self-confidence in interpersonal communication but also left me with a profound sense of inspiration to pursue my own creative writing endeavors.

2. Giải chi tiết IELTS Speaking Part 3: Topic "Interviews"

Question 1: What kinds of people are usually interviewed?

  • Dàn ý triển khai: Chia làm 2 nhóm chính: Người của công chúng (nghệ sĩ, chính trị gia, CEO) vì sự chú ý của truyền thông; và Người bình thường (ứng viên xin việc, nhân chứng sự kiện, công chúng khảo sát).

  • Bài mẫu Band 7.5+:

Generally speaking, interviewees fall into two primary categories. On the one hand, high-profile figures such as celebrities, politicians, and business moguls are consistently scrutinized and interviewed by journalists to provide public insights or clarify societal controversies. On the other hand, everyday citizens frequently participate in interviews as well, most commonly job applicants undergoing corporate screening processes, or eyewitnesses assisting investigative reporters during news events.

Question 2: Why do some people dislike being interviewed?

  • Dàn ý triển khai: Sợ xâm phạm đời tư, áp lực tâm lý trước ống kính/đám đông, và nỗi sợ lời nói bị truyền thông cắt xén hoặc bẻ cong (misinterpretation).

  • Bài mẫu Band 7.5+:

"There are several underlying reasons why individuals shy away from interviews. The most prominent factor is the fear of having their privacy invaded. Public figures, in particular, often worry that sensationalist media outlets might twist their words out of context to generate clickbait headlines. Furthermore, for introverted or private individuals, speaking under the harsh glare of cameras can trigger intense performance anxiety and emotional discomfort."

Question 3: Why do some people think interviews are a waste of time?

  • Dàn ý triển khai: Nhiều cuộc phỏng vấn mang tính chiếu lệ (superficial), lặp đi lặp lại câu hỏi sáo rỗng, hoặc các buổi phỏng vấn tuyển dụng thiếu minh bạch không đánh giá đúng năng lực thực tế.

  • Bài mẫu Band 7.5+:

People often perceive interviews as an unproductive exercise when they lack depth and substance. In the entertainment industry, celebrity interviews often rehash superficial, repetitive questions about personal gossip rather than meaningful artistic achievements. Similarly, in the corporate realm, traditional job interviews are sometimes criticized as arbitrary and outdated, as a thirty-minute scripted conversation can hardly reflect a candidate's actual competence, work ethic, or practical problem-solving abilities.

Question 4: What should people do to prepare for a job interview?

  • Dàn ý triển khai: Nghiên cứu kỹ về doanh nghiệp (Company research) - Ôn luyện các tình huống nghiệp vụ và câu hỏi hành vi (Mock interview/STAR method) - Chuẩn bị tác phong chuyên nghiệp (Dress code & body language).

  • Bài mẫu Band 7.5+:

Thorough preparation is indispensable for acing a recruitment interview. First and foremost, candidates ought to conduct in-depth research on the prospective employer's organizational culture, recent milestones, and core values. Secondly, practicing common behavioral questions using frameworks like the STAR method allows candidates to articulate their past accomplishments concisely. Lastly, maintaining a professional demeanor, dressing appropriately, and preparing insightful questions for the panel demonstrate genuine commitment and cultural fit.
